| Course: | The Soulstice Mountain Trail run is located in the historic Government Prairie grassland where in 1857, Lieutenant Edward Beale built the first federally funded wagon road across Northern Arizona with and used camels to carry supplies. All three courses take place on forest service roads and two-tracks, many that are very rocky. The relatively flat, volcanic grassland course has breathtaking views of Arizona's tallest mountains, the San Francisco Peaks, Sitgreaves, Bill Williams, and Kendrick. | ||
| Age Groups and Awards: | Awards to overall winners, masters (40-59), grand masters (60+) who are pulled from their age divisions. First place awards in the 30K, 18K, 10K for 10 and Under, 11-18, 19 to 29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. 30K runners get a finisher's medal, while 18K and 10K finishers get a special finisher's memento. | ||
| Highlights: | The race is limited to 200 runners. In Spring 2011, Runners World listed Soulstice as one of the top 32 trail races in the United States, calling it "one of the best post race parties anywhere." Because the race is organized by Northern Arizona Trail Runners Association volunteers, 100% of the race's proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff youth mentoring programs, annually raising over $12,000. The post-race party is family friendly with live music, camels, free food and beer! | ||
